What is OAFSC?

The Ohio Association of Financial Service Centers (OAFSC) is a trade association of approximately 40 member companies that are licensed by the Ohio Department of Commerce, Division of Financial Institutions to operate in more than 400 locations throughout the state. OAFSC members are dedicated to establishing and maintaining high standards of integrity and professionalism in our deferred lending industry.

Each of our member organizations is committed to ensuring quality service to its customers and protecting the consumer from those operations that do not abide by our standards. Each of our members must abide by our code of professional ethics as a prerequisite to membership.

Currently, we are working with the Ohio Department of Commerce, Division of Financial Institutions to enact more explicit consumer safeguards, and we support new legislation that upholds our high standards of fairness while allowing us to provide a needed service to our customers.

OAFSC Members Pledge to:


	Abide by all laws, statutes, regulations, and rulings pertaining to the check cashing business.
	Charge fair and reasonable fees for services provided, to publicly display such fees, and to clearly and effectively explain fee schedules to all customers.
	Refrain from engaging in business practices which might bring discredit upon the industry.
	Scrupulously avoid giving false or misleading information or misrepresenting any aspect of the business. This pledge extends to all public communications to include advertising.
	Firmly respect the rights of consumers in all transactions and to conduct all business in full compliance with equal opportunity and consumer protection laws.
	Recognize my responsibilities to the community as a business leader.
	Seek every opportunity to enhance the image of the check cashing industry by consistent communication and problem-solving with fellow members, and positive interaction with appropriate State of Ohio officials and agencies.
